Hyderabad: National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an organization that assesses and accredits institutions of higher education in India. NAAC is an autonomous body funded by UGC of Government of India headquartered in Bengaluru.NAAC is more concerned about the developmental aspects of the institution in the context of quality. NAAC assesses based on the Student-Teacher ratio, the infrastructure, the basic amenities for students and other important parameters.

Osmania University officials announced today that Osmania University has been accorded the A+ Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) after a span of four years. The previous grades were A in 2012 and 2008. In the month of August, The NAAC team has visited the university campus to assess the university. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad got A grade which is third highest grade after A+ and A++

The assessment by NAAC accreditation primarily focuses on three aspects while evaluating an institution;

  1. Quality initiative,
  2. Quality sustenance
  3. and Quality enhancement.

“The A plus status is one notch higher than the ‘A’ grade status it enjoyed till recently,” they said in a release.The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad secured 3.01 CGPA and it has been given ‘A’ grade by the NAAC in the second cycle. The grade was decided during the 27th meeting of the Standing Committee of NAAC on Tuesday and OU has secured 3.52 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Accordingly, the A+ grade has been awarded in the third cycle of the grading.Osmania University Vice Chancellor, Prof Ramachandran said, “The grading now enhances the academic prestige of the University nationally and globally.” University officials said that the A+ grading would refurbish the varsity’s image which was denied due to the agitation for a separate statehood.The A+ grade is the second highest grade after A++.
