The government has also mooted making 20 important government buildings barrier-free in the first phase. The department for welfare of disabled and senior citizens will offer aids and appliances like tricycles, motorized vehicles, wheelchairs, calipers, artificial limbs, crutches, hearing aids, laptops, mp3 players and braille books to 12,000 disabled persons, the Telangana government said. The park, which will have facilities for training, residential quarters and delivery centers for domestic and international clients, will create jobs for 2,000 PwD over the next five years by providing them the requisite training and jobs, said a release issued by the Telangana government. To make this a reality, the government on Saturday entered into an agreement with Vindhya E-Infomedia Private Limited to developing the IT campus. The government and Vindhya E-Infomedia will try to rope in various corporates to participate in this one-of-a-kind initiative aimed at making the world more inclusive.
Around 2,000 children with disabilities of Classes 1to 10 will be sanctioned pre-matric scholarships and 500 PwDs will be covered under economic rehabilitation scheme for setting up self-employment units with bank linkages. The department has also proposed to provide coaching for competitive examinations to 250 unemployed PwDs, the release added.
