In a press note addressing the 100 years celebrations of Osmania University Pawankalyan said” I pay my honour to the prestigious Osmania University which, with the belief”Thama Soma Jyothirgamaya “(Enlighten the darkness), is a home of knowledge for millions of people. The university initiated by the British educationist Wilfred Sewen Blunt and established under Nizam of Hyderabad, Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan has produced many intellectuals, scientists, engineers, doctors and artists who have and are still serving the country. Our very own P.V.Narasimha Rao, who went on to become the 9th Prime Minister of India, was raised in this mother’s lap. To this elite university which has shaped many Chief ministers and ministers, on behalf of me and Jenasena party, I salute and convey warm wishes. Jai hind!”
The centenary celebrations of Osmania University will be held from 26th April’17 to 28th April’17 at the OU campus. The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee is chief guest for the inaugural ceremony. All the cultural programmes will be held at University College of Arts and Social Sciences, OU.

The Osmania University is making all efforts to ensure the celebrations are memorable involving the alumni across the globe. Speaking at a press conference University Vice-Chancellor S. Ramachandran said that seating arrangements have been made for 10,000 students, 1000 VIPs, 2000 alumni, 1020 faculty, 758 retired staff, 1800 non-teaching staff and 128 physically handicapped candidates.
