Bahubali 2 review: The story begins where it was ended in part 1. Sivagami is set to crown Amarendra Baahubali as Maheshwari’s King. Like many other kings have traveled distances to acquire knowledge on various things, Amarednra Baahubali visits a beautiful kingdom Kunthala. Devasena is warrior queen of Kunthala who is like a beautiful tigress, kills with her beauty and also with her physical strength. While Baahubali falls for Devasena, Bhallaladeva envies his younger brother, who won the love of Devasena. Flip side Bijjaladeva keeps inserting poisonous thoughts into Bhallala’s mind, the corrupted brain of Bhallala starts handling Sivagami against Baahubali for obvious reasons.
Another side, Kumara Varma, brother in law of Devasena fits into the story as a key character influencing the progress of the story. How has the saga taken turns from there? Was Bahubali crowned as King of Mahishmati Kingdom as promised by Sivagami? Why Kattappa killed Baahubali? Did Sivudu aka Mahendra Baahubali avenge his father’s death? Get answers on the silver screen.
Arguably, Prabhas was overshadowed by Ramya Krishna and Satyaraj in part 1. They delivered solid performances in the first installment which ended up highlighting only action sequences on Prabhas’s side. But that is not the case here. Prabhas didn’t let them outsmart him. He stands tall as Amarendra Baahubali, who reveals the emotional side. Darling delivered something that we call as power packed stellar performance. His facial expressions in the anticipated scene of Kattappa killing Baahubali will state what a good actor he is. Anushka was at her usual best, at her typical royalty. This time, the warrior queen also has feminine elements in her.
The beautiful lady romances the mighty Baahubali gracefully like a queen. Rana had the meaty role as the giant villain but still not good enough to bring his potentiality out to the full. He did a great job in his limits.
While Ramya Krishna and Satya Raj continued their flow from part 1, it’s Nasser as Bijjaladeva who uplifted himself from good to great. He is venomously epic in the film with a fine act. Subbaraju makes unsuccessful attempts to bring some laughter but his character turns decent with the passage of time.
The Midas touch of Sabu Cyril once again will mesmerize you. Show the output of Hamsa Nava to any Hollywood art director, he/she wouldn’t believe that this masterpiece work has come from an Indian. He just raises the standards. Senthil’s cinematography is world class who has beaten his own work from the first part. You can see him improving the frames by leaps and bounds. It’s hard to put his work in limited words. The master MM Keeravani did what is renowned for. The background score uplifts the blood pumping emotions portrayed by Rajamouli. He can’t disappoint you in Rajamouli directorial and didn’t even this time. Expect yourself talking bit loose about the editing in the second half. It could have been better.
Rajamouli recently stated that Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion is the most satisfied work he has ever done.
Couldn’t agree more, he stands on the statement. Baahubali 2 begins in an epic way with the recap of part 1 in the title cards. The film then swiftly progresses with few to several elevation scenes of Amarendra Baahubali. With the arrival of Devasena, the film starts arresting you. The cracks between Baahubali and Bhallala become even stronger providing us goosebump moments. Lead scenes before Dandalayya song and the heavy interval have repeat value with them. The second half isn’t as racy as the first half but still, it keeps you engaged.
Last 20-25 are let down but we can easily ignore all the mess up for the drama and emotions we have witnessed so far. On an overall note .. the visual extravaganza is iconic and the grandeur is by international standards. Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion is a much better film than Baahubali – The Beginning. If you have liked the former, you will fall in love with the latter. This second and final installment of Baahubali series is going to shatter each and every existing box office record of India Cinema. Go to near theaters and celebrate the biggest blockbuster.
