Osmania University, the pride of Hyderabad is all geared up to celebrate the 100 years in a grand manner. Marching towards the 100th milestone it has evolved into an institution of high reputation and great laurels. The University being the oldest, multi-disciplinary, multi-faculty and largest affiliating university is celebrating its Centenary celebrations from April 26, 2017, to April 28, 2017.
The grand affair will be inaugurated by the President of India Pranab Mukherjee alongside E.S.L. Narasimhan, Hon’ble Governor, Telangana & A.P States ; K. Chandrashekar Rao, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Telangana State ;Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Govt. of India; Shri Kadiyam Srihari, Hon’ble Dy Chief Minister & Minister for Education, Telangana State; Dr. K. Keshava Rao, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha; Dr Bonthu Rammohan, HW Mayor, GHMC, Hyderabad and other VIP dignitaries.
As part of the extravagant fest, four members of the former Nizam of Hyderabad’s family, Mir Barkat Ali Khan Mukarram Jah, Mir Karamath Ali Khan Muffakham Jah, Nawab Mir Azmet Ali Khan and Nawab Shahamat Jah, all grandchildren of the university’s founder Nizam VII, Mir Osman Ali Khan, will be among the guests with other eminent persons.
The Osmania University is making all efforts to ensure the celebrations are memorable involving the alumni across the globe. Speaking at a press conference University Vice-Chancellor S. Ramachandran said that seating arrangements have been made for 10,000 students, 1000 VIPs, 2000 alumni, 1020 faculty, 758 retired staff, 1800 non-teaching staff and 128 physically handicapped candidates.
“For security reasons all the students should get a print out of the confirmation of the entry pass from the centenary website along with their ID cards.” H. Venkateswarulu, Special officer. Barring the VIPs attending the event, members of all categories like Alumni, teachers, non-teaching staff and students would have to undergo fingerprint scanning and allowed to entry into the venue only if your fingerprints linked to Aadhaar card match.
Addressing the transportation and parking facilities the Officer on special duty to VC said “There are different categories designed to maintain a smooth flow of traffic. A1 and A2 category have been allotted for all the VIPs, B1 for the faculty, B2 for Alumni, B3 for Non-teaching and B4 for Affiliated Colleges while C1, C2, C3, and C4 are completely allotted for the students of the university. Buses will be arranged in the campus for the elderly to reach the venue.”
A documentary on Osmania University will be screened at 12 noon at “A” Grounds followed by the inaugural programme. A seminar highlighting the “Role of Osmania University in Telangana and Nation building” will be held at Tagore Auditorium from 3 pm to 5 pm followed by cultural programmes to be held from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm at University College of Arts and Social Sciences, OU.
